A Poem

As part of the weekly rhythms we have on the DTS we do a thirty minute devotional led by a different person each Monday. A few months ago the lovely Izzy asked us to spend the devotional time connecting with our creativity and think about how we see God in nature. It could be an art piece, a poem, a song, etc. This is what I came up with and I thought I'd share it with you. I've also added some photos that helped inspire these words.
They say that you're Lord of the heavens and the earth.
But what does that really mean?
I'll call you Lord of the trees that grow deep roots to anchor themselves securely in the ground.
And Lord of each wave that fights to kiss his sandy lover over and over again.
The Lord of sunshine and warmth
Who also knows each knows star of the night sky as intimately as a best friend.
Lord of ladybugs and butterflies and yes, Lord of even the spiders too.
The Lord who put so much time and thought into every detail,
Not to keep to Herself but to share with the ones She loves.
This is what I'll tell people when they ask me about You.
To help them understand that each photo of a sunset, each night spent staring at the galaxies, each surfed wave and picnic in the park is an act of worship to Lord who created it all.
